An Initial Public Offering (IPO) is the first time a private company sells its shares to the public and lists on a stock exchange like the NSE or BSE. Investors apply during the subscription window at the stated price band, shares are allotted, and then listed for trading.

Mainboard IPOs are larger companies listing on the main NSE/BSE platforms with higher minimum issue sizes and wider investor participation. SME IPOs are smaller companies listing on the NSE Emerge or BSE SME platforms, with larger lot sizes and typically higher risk.

Subscription shows how many times the shares reserved for a category (QIB, NII, Retail) have been bid for. A 2x total subscription means investors applied for twice the shares on offer — a strong subscription, especially by QIBs, often signals healthy demand.

GMP is the premium at which IPO shares trade unofficially in the grey market before listing. It is an informal, unregulated indicator of expected listing gains and can change quickly — it is not an official or guaranteed figure.

After the allotment finalisation date shown in the IPO timeline, you can check allotment status on the registrar’s website (e.g. Link Intime, KFin) or the BSE/NSE IPO pages using your PAN or application number.

The timeline on each IPO card shows the allotment, refund, share-credit and listing dates. Shares are usually credited to your demat account a day or two before the listing date, after which they become tradable.

जीएमपी यानी ग्रे मार्केट प्रीमियम वह भाव है जिस पर आईपीओ के शेयर लिस्टिंग से पहले अनौपचारिक ग्रे मार्केट में चलते हैं। यह लिस्टिंग गेन का एक अनुमान भर है — यह न तो आधिकारिक है, न ही नियामक द्वारा मान्य, और तेज़ी से बदल सकता है। इसे गारंटी मानकर निवेश का फैसला न करें।

हर आईपीओ की टाइमलाइन में दी गई अलॉटमेंट डेट के बाद आप रजिस्ट्रार की वेबसाइट (जैसे Link Intime या KFin) या BSE/NSE के आईपीओ पेज पर अपना PAN या एप्लिकेशन नंबर डालकर अलॉटमेंट स्टेटस देख सकते हैं।

मेनबोर्ड आईपीओ बड़ी कंपनियों के होते हैं जो मुख्य NSE/BSE प्लेटफॉर्म पर लिस्ट होती हैं और इनका इश्यू साइज़ बड़ा होता है। SME आईपीओ छोटी कंपनियों के होते हैं जो NSE Emerge या BSE SME पर लिस्ट होती हैं — इनमें लॉट साइज़ बड़ा और जोखिम आमतौर पर ज़्यादा होता है।
