Natural Gas futures — a major energy commodity used for heating, electricity generation, and industrial processes.
Live Natural Gas price in USD/MMBtu, updated every 2 minutes, with intraday movement and historical charts from 1 month to 5 years. Prices are international futures quotes — Indian MCX and spot rates differ due to import duty, GST and the rupee exchange rate.
Live prices for 19 commodities across four groups — energy, metals, agricultural and industrial — quoted against their international benchmarks and refreshed through the trading day. Right now 8 of 19 are trading higher than their previous close.
Commodities set the input costs for a large share of the Indian market, which is why they move equities before equities move. Crude feeds inflation, the rupee and every company that burns or refines it; industrial metals lead the capital goods and auto cycle; gold tells you what global capital thinks of risk.
Benchmark prices in USD, last updated 12 Sept 2026, 10:36 pm IST.
Crude oil first, because India imports the large majority of what it consumes — a sustained rise widens the trade deficit, pressures the rupee and squeezes margins for paint, tyre, aviation and logistics companies while helping upstream producers. Gold matters second, both as a household savings asset and as the global risk barometer. Industrial metals such as copper and aluminium feed directly into metal, auto and capital goods earnings.
No, and the difference matters. These are international benchmark prices quoted in US dollars — WTI and Brent for crude, COMEX for gold and silver. MCX contracts are quoted in rupees per Indian contract size and additionally reflect the USD/INR rate, import duty and local premiums. A gold price flat in dollars can still rise on MCX purely because the rupee weakened.
WTI is the US benchmark, priced at Cushing, Oklahoma; Brent is the North Sea benchmark and the reference for most internationally traded crude. India's import basket tracks Brent far more closely than WTI, so Brent is the more relevant of the two for Indian inflation and for oil marketing company margins. The spread between them widens and narrows with US production and shipping economics.
Quotes refresh continuously from international futures markets, which trade nearly around the clock on weekdays — so commodity prices move overnight while Indian equity markets are shut. That overnight move is often what explains a gap-up or gap-down opening in metal, energy and paint stocks the following morning.
Indian residents can trade commodity derivatives on MCX and NCDEX, which list rupee-denominated contracts on gold, silver, crude, natural gas, base metals and several agricultural commodities. The international benchmarks shown here are the reference prices those contracts track, not directly tradable instruments for Indian retail investors. This page is a price reference, not a recommendation to trade.
